Now in these tough economic times, people are being squeezed more than ever. This is even more apparent with those who don’t have much to begin with. And as states around the country are facing tough budget decisions, more and more is getting axed as pertains to services provided to those with low incomes. Or even those who had been doing well but have now fallen on hard times. Thankfully there are still those who care and wish to provide essential medical and dental services to those who have no insurance or don’t have money for the dentist figured into the family budget.

The Basics

There are some clinics that charge a nominal fee(20.00) but even then, if you can’t afford that, you’ll still be able to get the treatment you need. Of course all of the dentists and dental students serve on a voluntary basis, it is this compassion and concern alone which makes these clinics work and remain open. They are not there to whiten your teeth or give you a set of choppers like Gary Busey, they provide the basic dental care in hopes of preventing further decay. Of course many clinics do a great deal of work with children, which thankfully sets them on the right path to proper and healthy oral care. They provide consultations, preventive care, extractions, root canals and crowns, among other work.

Certain Patients

It must be noted that some clinics target a specific gender and age set. For example, some clinics serve only homeless teens from 13-18 and homeless adults. Other clinics serve only children, mothers and veterans. Some will only serve those with some Medicaid coverage.

Other Options

If you feel that you do not qualify for treatment at a dental clinic, there are many excellent dentists who understand that everyone has a lot of bills and they are willing to work with you with compassion and reason. Many dentists offer interest free payments. In the end, don’t let a lack of money drive you to neglect your teeth.

Gary Busey is truly an original. When he appeared on talk shows, you were guaranteed a wild and unpredicable ride. He also has one of the quickest minds in show biz, which made him a fun foil for Dave, who’s head Gary liked to fuck with. GB coulda been a great comedian too. This segment was taped in 1990, nearly 2 years fater his big motorcycle accident that cracked his skull open, almost killing him. Even after extensive brain surgery he was still boiling over with rambunctious enthusiam and zest for Life. You go, Gary. Your best work is yet to come!
