Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte will rise again! HBO Max announced today that And Just Like That…, the sequel series to Sex And The City, will return for a second season after delivering the strongest debut of any Max Original series to date.
Executive producer of the series Michael Patrick King said in a statement provided to Decider, “I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters – played by these powerful, amazing actors. The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And just like that… our sex life is back.”
The season one cast included Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Sara Ramírez, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, Chris Noth, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Willie Garson, and Evan Handler. And the question remains, who will be returning for Season 2? We know for sure that Parker, Nixon, and Davis will be back, and we would assume that Eigenberg and Handler will too, since Miranda and Charlotte’s spouses Steve and Harry were integral to the reboot. (#Justice4Steve!) And it would be a great disservice to the show if Mario Cantone’s Anthony and his challah-back boy delivery service didn’t return.
We would make a confident guess that Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, and Karen Pittman will reprise their roles as Seema, Lisa Todd Wexley, and Nya Wallace; but Che Diaz is another story. Miranda’s relationship with Che, played by Sara Ramirez, polarized fans (mostly because Miranda felt like a different person as a result of this new romance)… But we’re going to guess Che comes back too, even if it’s just to upend Miranda’s life.
As for the remaining cast members who appeared on season one? Well, we know they cut Chris Noth from the season one finale after sexual assault allegations surfaced against him, but with Big dying at the beginning of the season, he was a ghost anyway. And the real-life death of Willie Garson left a Stanford-sized hole in our hearts, he was truly irreplaceable.
The biggest questions of all that we are going to need answers to when the show returns: Will Carrie and her podcast producer get even hotter and heavier than they did in the finale? Will Steve ever live happily ever after? Will Che do another comedy concert? And, of course… Will Kim Cattrall’s Samantha ever return? I can’t help but wonder.
