Chip and Dale are back, and they’re, like, super self-aware now. Today, Disney+ released the first trailer for the upcoming live-action/CG comedy Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, which stars Andy Samberg and John Mulaney as the iconic furry friends.
Directed by The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer, the film takes place in a world where Chip and Dale have drifted apart in the 30 years since their popular show, The Rescue Rangers, stopped airing. In the present day, Chip (Mulaney) now lives a humble life as an insurance agent. Meanwhile, Dale (Samberg) desperately tries to stay relevant, even undergoing “CGI surgery” in the process.
But when Chip and Dale’s former cast member goes missing, the two ex-coworkers are forced to team up to get to the bottom of their whereabouts. Along the way, they get into plenty of hijinks, and even come face-to-face with Roger Rabbit. This is a self-referential Disney movie, after all — anything is possible!
The film also stras KiKi Layne, Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, and Chris Parnell. Producers include Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman. Alexander Young and Tom Peltzman serve as executive producers.
Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers premieres Friday, May 20, exclusively on Disney+.
