WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD. Following Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s return as Peter Parker variants in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel fans can only imagine what the MCU has in store for the next movie on the slate, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Rumours abound of huge cameo appearances by Fox and Sony Marvel superheroes from years gone by and now insiders are claiming Charlize Theron is set for a major role that could well debut in Benedict Cumberbatch’s sequel solo outing.
Multiple trusted scoopers have reported or alluded to her involvement, although it’s not quite clear in what role.
Some of them reckon Theron will be playing Clea in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
In Marvel Comics, Clea was born in The Dark Dimension and is the daughter of Prince Orini, leader of the Mhuruuks and Umar, a Faltine and sister of Dormammu. Fans will remember that Doctor Strange defeated the latter at the end of his first MCU solo movie.
Most significantly of all, Clea is the disciple and lover of the Marvel sorcerer himself.
One outlet in particular, Giant Freakin Robot, reports that Theron is past talks with Marvels Studios and is definitely playing a hero.
Apparently, an announcement from the MCU will come in the next few months.
Interestingly, they believe the Mad Max: Fury Road star will actually be playing the latest incarnation of Fantastic Four’s Sue Storm.
Mrs Fantastic aka The Invisible Woman is married to Reed Richards in the Marvel Comics and has previously been playing in the Fox movies by Jessica Alba and Kate Mara.
Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Jon Watts is directing the new Fantastic Four reboot which could be released as early as late 2023.
Following the poorly received Fox films, especially the reboot, here’s hoping he can do Marvel’s First Family justice.
MCU leaker MyTimeToShine tweeted on January 12: “They just started casting for the Fantastic Four.” So maybe Theron really has been cast as Sue Storm?
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is released in cinemas on May 6, 2022.
