Cosmopolitan reports that Benedict is actually the protagonist of “An Offer from a Gentleman,” the third book in the “Bridgerton” series, on which the titular TV show is based.
The second eldest Bridgerton brother meets love interest Sophie Beckett, an earl’s daughter who’s been forced into servitude by her evil stepmother, at the annual masquerade ball, which she had to sneak into. Sophie and Benedict lock eyes across the dance floor and start their love affair.
This means that we’ll likely have to wait until Season 3 to see anything significant happen in Benedict’s love life, but, by the sounds of it, it’ll be worth it.
Moreover, Refinery 29 hints that there’s a love triangle at the heart of the story, too, as Benedict finds himself torn between two women. Today also points out that “An Offer from a Gentleman” expands Benedict’s character more generally, including how he wishes to forge his own identity outside of just being a Bridgerton, predominantly through art. He eventually marries Sophie, too, per Express.
Those eager for Benedict to take center stage can take solace in the fact that “Bridgerton” has been renewed through Season 4, as Vogue previously confirmed. It’s widely believed that the third season will follow Benedict and Sophie.
