Fans who have been following Joe Burrow already know that he began his college career at Ohio State. However, he opted to leave the university’s program in favor of Louisiana State University, where he met teammate Ja’Marr Chase. The two created a powerful on-field bond that helped lead the LSU Tigers to the 2019 College Football Championship (via The Sporting News). Later, the Cincinnati Bengals drafted Burrow to their team. They also opted to pick up his dynamic college teammate, Chase, due to his history with Burrow. The two were reunited as “tigers” yet again in Burrow’s home state of Ohio.
“It ended up he’s a guy that can make a difference in our offense. He’s so explosive,” Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan said of Chase’s football talent. “To me, he’s the best receiver that’s come out in the last three years. He’s worthy of that spot where guys like A.J. (Green) and Julio (Jones) were drafted. It’s hard to pass up that kind of talent.”
During their Super Bowl run, Burrow broke the Bengals’ records for most touchdown passes thrown in a single season, as well as most passing yards in a season (via SI). Meanwhile, Chase has broken the team’s record for most receiving yards in a season (via Cincy Jungle), seemingly proving that he and Burrow have undeniable chemistry on the field.
