Kacey Musgraves is feeling blue.
During her NYC concert last weekend, the 33-year-old “Breadwinner” singer wore a blue velvet minidress and thigh-high boots custom-made by late Off-White designer Virgil Abloh, who died in November 2021 at age 41.
Musgraves’ stylist, Erica Cloud, revealed that they had collaborated on the special dress for her “Star-Crossed: Unveiled” tour stop, which was adapted from a runway look modeled by Bella Hadid.
“Sadly, she wasn’t able to wear it last year before he left us, but wore it in his honor for her sold out show in NYC at @thegarden & in tribute to someone that was true blue and will never be forgotten,” Cloud wrote on Instagram Wednesday.
Abloh’s designs have continued to make waves even after his untimely death.
Shaun White recently revealed a luggage collaboration between his own Whitespace brand and Louis Vuitton ahead of the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, telling Page Six Style, “It saddens me to know that Virgil never got to see the finished products, but I know that he would have loved them.”
Louis Vuitton has continued to present Abloh’s final designs for the French fashion brand in spectacular fashion, while limited-edition sneakers from his Nike Air Force 1 collaboration raked in millions at auction.
With awards season around the corner, it’s likely that Abloh’s creations will have a major presence on the red carpet.
