After it was announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! would welcome President Joe Biden to the show this week, commentators and critics blasted both Biden and Kimmel for the interview.
In his monologue last night (June 6), Kimmel explained, “[President Biden] will be our guest here on Wednesday night… which is nice, because it gives the guys at Fox News something to scream about all week.” He was referring to the fact that Fox Business host Dagen McDowell expressed outrage over the interview when she said on Monday, “So, to communicate with the American people, Joe Biden is sitting down with Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday. That’s the land of insanity in which we all live.”
“Oh I see,” Kimmel responded, “what I do is insane. You guys telling us we should arm P.E. teachers to protect kids, that makes sense. Tucker Carlson giving Vladimir Putin a reach-around every other night, sane. President on a late-night talk show? Insane. Got it.”
Kimmel added that former President Trump “took his job so seriously, he had the time to meet with Kanye West and Kid Rock and Ted Nugent and Lil’ Wayne and the My Pillow guy who knows how many times, and also watch TV all day.”
Kimmel announced the news that Biden would appear on his show on Sunday.
The President will sit down with Kimmel on his show Wednesday, June 8 at 11:35 PM ET/PT.
