For 13 seasons, fans couldn’t get enough of NCIS special agent Tony DiNozzo — especially his flirty banter during his on-again, off-again romantic fling with fellow NCIS agent Ziva David, portrayed by Cote de Pablo. Michael Weatherly left “NCIS” in order to become the lead on “Bull,” and, as he told The Hollywood Reporter, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect after 13 seasons on the show. “I was burnt out by NCIS and I was ready for a new challenge,” he said.
Lately, Weatherly has been hinting at making a return to “NCIS” in a few of his social media posts. Despite the fact that “Bull” has been renewed for a sixth season, Weatherly tweeted a photo of himself wearing a hat and jacket that resembled the outfit that he wore as DiNozzo. Weatherly captioned the photo, “#ncis Camera is King.” In another tweet, which contains a photo of Weatherly dressed at DiNozzo, the actor provides another possible hint of an “NCIS” return. “This guy woke me up this morning,” Weatherly captioned the pic “Then I realized it was still a dream. He wouldn’t stop talking about Gibbs. And his shoulder holster. #ncis dream.”
Despite the social media hints, though, Weatherly has yet to announce whether he will be staging a comeback on “NCIS” any time soon.
