As CBS Sports notes, Booking.com’s 2022 Super Bowl commercial stars actor Idris Elba calling up his favorite “spokes-blokes” for suggestions on what he should do to make the ad stand out. Per Hollywood Life, the British star of hit TV series “Luther” calls up Jonathan Goldsmith, who appeared as Dos Equis’ “Most Interesting Man in the World,” and Isaiah Mustafa, who was “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” in the popular Old Spice commercials, for advice. Firstly, Goldsmith wants to know whether Elba will be shirtless, while Mustafa wonders if there will be “singing animals,” “fiery explosions,” or even “cars driving in, with people jumping out, maybe paragliding?” Per IMDb, Elba played villain Brixton in “Fast & Furious” spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw,” which might be what’s confusing Mustafa, who appeared in “It: Chapter Two” and “Shadowhunters,” according to IMDb.
Meanwhile, IMDb reports that Goldsmith featured in “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” “Dallas” and “Days of Our Lives,” so he’s no stranger to challenging roles either. Though Elba doesn’t manage to get much assistance from his famous friends, the Brit’s presence in the Booking.com commercial alone should be reason enough for fans to tune in.
