
ANDREI KONST is a film writer and director, born and raised in Siberia, Russia, where he got his start in experimental video art, advertising and television. After a series of breakthrough short films, he relocated to New York City, working with independent producers on a number of documentary and feature projects. In 2009, Andrei moved to Los Angeles to collaborate with leading Hollywood-based Russian filmmakers like Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted). His feature debut Lady Of Csejte, is a historical horror produced by Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Split) and starring Isabelle Allen (Les Miserables) and Svetlana Khodchenkova (The Wolverine,) was released in 2015. His acclaimed follow-up film noir Auto Fiction earned him Best Director Award at Brighton Rocks International Film Festival. Konst is currently working on a number of projects, including a historical spy thriller based on real events during the Russian revolutionist’s Leon Trotsky exile in New York City in 1917. The Hollywood Dog recently sat down with Andrei over a cafe latte at a nearby Starbucks. The conversation was revealing, refreshing, and easy-going.
